Meeting our Academic Advisor
It was already the 16th of November at 12 pm at noon, and we were getting ready to join in. During that time, I was at the CTF4, preparing myself to meet my academic advisor (AA). This task is for our subject, PPD1014; one of our tasks was to meet our AA. For my undergraduate study at UNIMAS, my AA is Mdm Ross Azura Binti Zahit. Before the meeting, I emailed her to see if she was available within the timeframe I set, which was on the 16th of November, 2022. She then replied the morning after the email was sent, she asked to make a group chat for all the students that were to be advised by her, and she also agreed with the time that I set, which was stated in the email I sent to her. Moreover, we did not do much activity with Mdm Ross due to her unavailability at UNIMAS; however, we did an ice-breaking session with all the students under her care. I am friends with some of the students under her supervision, such as Noor Affendy, Maansi, and Devlin; some of my friends are my classmates, groupmates and housemates non-respectively. Nevertheless, It was still great to know other students also majoring in the same major as me, Psychology. After the ice-breaking session ended, she began to show us how she could see our performance, including during class and what our marks were. She was very friendly and gave us a lot of insight into being an academic advisor. During the Q&A session, I asked how we print our examination slips to start our exam. Mdm Ross was clear and thorough when answering our question, so I understood her after that explanation. She stated that to get the examination slip; we must first fully pay our university fee; after that, we must meet our academic advisor, and the last one is that we must not disobey any UNIMAS rules. Overall, my meeting with her went very well. There was no bad internet connection, and she explained everything very well. I am looking forward to seeking her guidance whenever I feel troubled.

My UNIMAS Experience so far...

I was invited to be one of the UNIMAS students; I was very grateful for the opportunity that was given to me. Now I am majoring in a course that I am interested in, Psychology. Everything was surreal to me. I am not going to lie, as a second intake student, I missed four weeks of class, and it was a bit of a challenge for me; however, I was still able to catch up, all thanks to the lecturer's notes that were submitted in the eLeap.

I made friends quickly here. Everyone was very friendly and helpful with directions, the lecturers here are so sweet, and I find that very comforting. Although Sarawakian people are a bit hard to understand, I will always try my best to catch up with that too.
